Jacobs Media, Salkowitz Working On Jelli

November 4, 2009: Jelli, the "crowdsourced" radio show soon to be syndicated by Triton Media, will enjoy the consulting services of Jacobs Media and Top 40 programmer Joel Salkowitz. The show lets listeners control songs heard on the air by way of a web-based game, voting songs up and down and even joining together to pull songs off the air mid-play.
"Interest is high in the crowdsourced programming concept, and quality broadcasters are already making inquiries," Dial Global President Kirk Stirland said. "The contribution of Jacobs and Salkowitz insure this potentially breakthrough concept will fit effectively on radio stations nationally."
Stirland is creating the shows based on Jelli's proprietary technology. Salkowitz will work on the Top 40 edition of Jelli while Jacobs Media works on the Rock edition.
"We're excited about this initiative with Jelli and Dial Global," Jacobs Media President Fred Jacobs said. "This is a perfect marriage of music programming and digital platforms -- right in the sweet spot of our company."
Salkowitz said, "Radio has typically limited audience input to telephone requests or, more recently, e-mails and text messages. I'm looking forward to working with Jelli to offer radio listeners a truly interactive experience."
Stirland said Rock and CHR producers are being found to work on imaging and promotion for the new Jelli shows, while Triton's TM Studios are working on audio logos and localizing elements.
