Hayes Named Cox Enterprises CEO
ATLANTA -- December 30, 2008: Cox Enterprises promotes Jimmy W. Hayes to CEO, moving up from President/COO. He will succeed Chairman/CEO James Kennedy, who remains Chairman.
In his new role, Hayes will overse Cox Media Group -- which includes Cox Radio -- Cox Communications, Manheim Auctions, and Cox Auto Trader, and several corporate groups, including financial and business deveopment. He also serves as a member of the boards of Cox Enterprises and Cox Radio.
"I have been the CEO of Cox Enterprises for 20 years and I feel that is long enough," said Kennedy. "Jimmy Hayes has earned the opportunity to be chief executive officer of this company, and in these difficult times, Jimmy's skills and experience are perfectly suited for the job. As chairman of the board, I am not going anywhere. I will still be around to provide Jimmy all the support that I can."
Hayes is a Cox veteran, having joined the company in 1980 and taken a corporate role in 1982.
